TV on DVD: Broad City and The Wonder Years
Broad City: Season 2 More TV shows have made their way on to DVD and Blu-ray, and DVD Talk has got them covered. Check out our reviews of the newest TV releases including: Broad City: Season 2 - this second season feels more assured, allowing the world of the show to get a little more realistic, even as the gags get more ambitious and sillier; and The Wonder Years: Season 4 - this is as strong as any season that the series has to offer... the cast and crew do great work, the writing is top notch and the series is as hilarious as it is often genuinely touching. DVD Talk Interview: Samantha Bee and Jason Jones
DVD Talk Interview: Samantha Bee and Jason Jones Apparently, the family that makes TV for TBS together, stays together, as former The Daily Show correspondants and married couple Samantha Bee and Jason Jones have a pair of new shows on the network, with Bee’s late-night series Full Frontal premiering February 8th, and Jones’ new sitcom The Detour hitting screens in April. The pair sat down with DVDTalk’s Francis Rizzo III at the New York ComicCon to talk about Canadian television, eating Fidel Castro’s fruit and the romance of explosive diarrhea. Read everything the pair had to say in the latest DVD Talk Interview.

This Week's Notable Releases: Jack's Back and Sonny Boy
Jack's Back Some pretty cool discs are being released this week. Check out these new titles: Jack's Back [review] - Scream Factory resurrects this early James Spader film about a copycat Jack the Ripper killer and provides a nice Blu-ray package for fans; and Sonny Boy [review] - this oddity is a pretty interesting movie, something different that kinda-sorta works as a horror movie, kinda-sorta works as a crime movie and kinda-sorta works as a drive-in style exploitation picture, skirting around within genres rather effectively thanks to a quirky story and a great cast. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

Recent Reviews: Straight Outta Compton, Battles Without Honor and Humanity, and Trailer Trauma
Straight Outta Compton This week the DVD Talk Review Database has some great new entries, including a few discs you may have overlooked. Recent reviews include: Straight Outta Compton - this wonderfully acted, consistently entertaining biopic about influential rap group N.W.A. is confidently directed by F. Gary Gray and features a string of powerful performances; Battles Without Honor and Humanity: The Complete Collection - the 5-movie Japanese gangster film series by Kinji Fukasaku is immensely entertaining and this limited edition BR/DVD set is yet another outstanding, must-own release from Arrow; and Trailer Trauma - a compilation of 64 (!) trailers from just about every niche genre you can think of, and the disc makes it a point to steer clear of any overlap with the other trailer comps on Blu-ray, emphasizing the particularly rare and unique. TV on DVD: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Barnaby Jones, and Peppa Pig
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 10 TV on DVD and Blu-ray remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 10 - a return to form after a very shaky ninth season... if you've come this far the journey is still worth continuing; Barnaby Jones - The Complete Collection - although this set use analog-era video masters, it is something hard-core fans will want to have as it's highly unlikely this will be remastered for home video anytime soon; and Peppa Pig: Cold Winter Day - this is about as basic as kids' entertainment gets, but the show's sweet and simple atmosphere is fine enough in small doses. The Martian Some great DVD and Blu-ray reviews have been added to the the DVD Talk Review Database recently including: The Martian - a movie that shows great filmmaking skill and features a tremendous character and performance by Matt Damon; Hotel Transylvania 2 - excellently animated, this film maintains the same innocuous level of kid-safe comedy as its predecessor making it an enjoyable, moralistic tale for youngsters watching and a tolerable experience for the adults in the room; and Saint Jack - Peter Bogdanovich's lost character study of the most moral man from an immoral business is waiting to be rediscovered. Highly Recommended. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

TV on DVD: Mr. Robot, Doc Martin, and Amy Schumer
Mr. Robot: Season 1 Some great TV shows have made their way onto home video recently including: Mr. Robot: Season 1 - a mix of timely social commentary, Shakespearean drama and trippy psychological thriller, this show is incredibly well-made, with tremendous performances; Doc Martin - Series 7 - the long-running British program still delights in many respects while remaining downright frustrating in other ways; and Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo - despite starting on fire, Amy Schumer just can't maintain an hour-long special without coming off as overly cringeworthy... a passable hour of entertainment. This Week's Notable Releases: Out 1, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, and The Look of Silence
Out 1 Some great discs are being released this week. Check out these new movies and shows: Out 1 [review] - After nearly half a century, a lost masterpiece of the French New Wave has finally made its way to American home video with an unbeatable transfer and a solid pair of supplements; Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead [review] - this film is almost entirely dialogue driven but the sardonic wit of the material jives so perfectly with the two leads' acting styles in this picture that you can't help but get a kick out of it... a movie that is frequently really, really funny; and The Look of Silence [review] - Joshua Oppenheimer's film about the mass killings of Indonesia in the mid 1960's is stunning, with moments of immense power told with no dramatic enhancement. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
