Movies in Theaters: Deadpool and Zoolander 2
Deadpool Check out DVD Talk's latest reviews of movies that are in theatrical release. This week's crop includes: Deadpool [a second review] - there's a lot to love about this movie... it's funny, violent, incredibly entertaining, and faithful to the tone and style of the source material; and Zoolander 2 - this film was desperate to capture the original's magic but relied too heavily on past success. It is completely full of either failed old references or failed new jokes and never takes off, as even a laughable romp. Other recent films include: Hail, Caesar!, Room, The Revenant, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Anomalisa, In the Heart of the Sea, The Good Dinosaur, Creed, and Steve Jobs. Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.

This Week's Notable Releases: The Kid, Beat Street, and Black Mass
The Kid Another banner week for DVDs with the studios releasing some great films and boxed sets such as: The Kid [review] - Charlie Chaplin's first feature film is a classic, mixing his trademark comedy with affecting emotion. Criterion has set the film up with a beautiful presentation and a wealth of bonus content that is as informative as it is entertaining; and Beat Street [review] - this 1984 film from director Stan Lathan revolves around an up and coming DJ/rapper who is trying to make it in the music business... it is a product of its time but remains a pretty enjoyable watch. We get a colorful cast of characters, a good mix of humor and drama, plenty of crazy dancing, and some great music; and Black Mass [review] - Johnny Depp gives his best performance in years as legendary crime boss Whitey Bulger in this Scott Cooper film which captures the sliver of Bulger's life where he aligned with FBI agent John Connolly to take down the Italian mafia in South Boston. New Reviews: The Big Sleep, The Vikings, and Woman in the Moon
The Big Sleep Some great DVD and Blu-ray reviews have been added to the the DVD Talk Review Database recently including: The Big Sleep - known for its smoldering lead performances, unpredictable twists, and heavy atmosphere, Howard Hawks' film is still highly enjoyable more than 70 years after its theatrical release; The Vikings - a grand adventure film in the old Hollywood tradition, made with a good budget, a talented crew and an A-list cast. It holds up well, mixing excitement, action, drama and romance together in equal doses and moving at a very fine pace; and Woman in the Moon - a film that is impressive in every way... the scope of the picture and the extent to which directo Fritz Lang and his collaborators went to realize that scope is amazingly ambitious. Inside Llewyn Davis: Criterion Collection Check out the latest reviews that have been entered into the DVD Talk Review Database including: Inside Llewyn Davis: Criterion Collection - Joel and Ethan Coen's film marks another fine effort from the beloved writing and directing duo: loaded with great performances, terrific dialogue, and a compelling story about a "failed" musician's life in a crowded world; I Confess - an expertly directed picture from Alfred Hitchcock that dutifully exploits its Quebec locations with some remarkably atmospheric black and white cinematography while simultaneously getting some great performances out of its cast; and The Last Detail - an essential film from the New Hollywood of the 1970s offers Jack Nicholson in one of his signature roles, ably abetted by a reluctant Otis Young and a sweetly goofy Randy Quaid. Check out these recent releases: Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs: Signature Edition [review] - a milestone in American animation and holds up very well more than 75 years after its original release... featuring jaw-dropping visuals, memorable songs, and a story that favors little details and interactions over non-stop action, it's still great entertainment for fans of all ages; and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka [review] - a delightful spoof of blaxploitation films delivering plenty of laughs with the help of a talented cast of legendary action stars and up-and-coming comedians; and Highway to Hell [review] - Ate de Jong's 1991 genre mash-up is certainly an odd duck of a movie, but it's also a whole lot of screwy fun.
