This week The DVD Savant takes a look at Warners'
A Patch of Blue a Sidney Poitier vehicle one doesn't have to explain as a product of its time,
Sirocco, a so-so thriller set
in 1925 Damascus, about seven years after Lawrence of Arabia left, Artisan's
The Magic Christian is a well-known
title that Savant was sorry to find out isn't much of a film - but is an interesting train
wreck, The Stand-In another
misfire released no doubt for the appearance of a pre-fame Humphrey Bogart It All Starts Today so
good Savant watched it twice in two days and finally Shampoo, Hal Ashby's
sly comedy about the beautiful people of Beverly Hills, and how all of them somehow want to sleep with Warren Beatty. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

It's not often a DVD release catches us completely by surprise, but this week two DVD Talk Forum members pointed out that Best of Insomniac-Uncensored Vol. 01 was getting released. Best of Insomniac features 5 uncensored episodes from the first season including: New York, Montreal, New Orleans, Houston, and Chicago (total running time is 107 mins.) Although it doesn't have any special features we found Best of Insomniac-Uncensored Vol. 01
priced extremely affordably at Amazon for $11.24. Insomniac with Dave Attell is an extremely funny and sometimes raunchy look at the wonderfully bizarre nightlife at many major American Cities. It's extremely entertaining and so we're glad we caught wind of it's DVD release.

People typically look to Hong Kong for great kung-fu-over-the-top-action films. But an odd French/US film slipped in under the radar this year that is so unbelievably over the top you can't help but love it: The Transporter. Set for release on April 15th from Fox Home Video The Transporter will feature: audio commentary by Director Corey Yuen, making-of the Transporter feature, an unrated extended action sequence and more! If you're looking for an action film completely, totally and unapologetically over the top be sure to check out The Transporter .
