Steven Spielberg Presents Taken on DVD
Dreamworks has announced the DVD release for the Stephen Spielberg produced UBER mini-series Taken which originally aired on the Sci-Fi channel, and was nominated for "best miniseries" at this years Golden Globes. Set for release on October 21st Steven Spielberg Presents Taken mini-series will be presented in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and feature all 10 episodes from the mini series spread across 5 Discs (2 per disc and a total of 20 Hours of show!) as well as a 6th bonus disc which will feature the 42 minute documentary entitled ‘Inside Taken’. Cinema Gotham: The Highly Contagious Cinemania
CinemaniaThis week Cinema Gotham is happy to introduce a new addition to our little family: Our new contributor Jason Janis. Jason took in the Tribeca Film Festival and will be sharing some of his thoughts on the films he saw there. First up is Stephen Kijak and Angela Christlieb's Cinemania, a documentary about a group of movie-obsessed New Yorkers who literally do nothing but catch flicks. The film is now playing at Cinema Village. Cinema Gotham spoke with Kijak and one of the "cinemaniacs" about the film and the religion of movie-going.

DVD Savant: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Winchester '73 and King Rat
This week the DVD Savant takes a look at Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea a perfect picture that doesn't seem to age, A trio of top Western titles from Unviersal rom the Anthony Mann - James Stewart collaboration of the '50s: Winchester '73, Bend of the River and The Far Country, Cary Grant 's farewell role is in the unheralded Walk, Don't Run, an unassuming and quiet little screwball comedy set in the Tokyo housing shortage during the 1964 Olympics, And finally, Bryan Forbes scores a hit with the cynical, incisive King Rat, a bleak prison tale where Black Marketeer George Segal's schemes and corruption get totally out of hand - a superior drama with a top cast. The Profiler - Over 21 Hours on DVD
A&E Home Video has announced the DVD release for the critically acclaimed TV series The Profiler - Season 1. Set for release on July 29th, The Profiler will be released as a 6 Disc collection, presented in full frame with Dolby Digital 2.0, with over 21 hours of content and will feature: Audio Commentary by series stars Ally Walker and Robert Davi on the pilot episode, and 'Profiles of Evil: Inside the Criminal Mind' from A&E Signature Series American Justice. This Week's Notable DVDs
The main attraction this week on DVD is the 2 disc Special Edition release of The Mission: SE [Review] - Warner Bros shows yet again just how well they can revisit contemporary classic films on DVD. Columbia Tri-Star adds 3 titles to it's Superbit collection including: Bad Boys - Superbit [Review], Men In Black and MIB 2 Superbit. Fans of TV on DVD should note this week's releases of X-Files Season 7, GI Joe, The Jeffersons Season 2 and The Monkees - Season One. Finally, if you're looking for a fun light film to rent, Buena Vista has The Hot Chick [Review] with Rob Schneider.

Gods & Generals
Warner Bros. has announced the DVD release for the Civil War epic Gods & Generals. Set for release on July 15th Gods & Generals will be presented in Anamorphic Widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and feature: Audio commentary by Director Ronald Maxwell, writer Jeff Shaara and a number of historians, 3 Documentaries - 'Journey to the Past,' 'The Life of Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson,' and 'Authenticities of the Film,' and Bob Dylan and Mary Fahl Music Videos. This DVD release is for the theatrical edition of the film, there's a rumored extended edition which runs almost 6 hours but there are no plans yet for a DVD release. Pre-Order Gods & Generals Now

Lord of The Rings - Two Towers Up for Pre-Order
Retailers have now begun to take Pre-Orders for the first release of Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (the Theatrical Edition). Set for release on Aug 26th the Theatrical Edition (available in both Widescreen and Fullscreen releases with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio) will contain the version of the film seen in theaters and feature: a modest number of 'making of' featurettes, A 10 minute sneak preview of The Return of the King, and a short film by Sean Astin called 'The Long and Short of It' with an accompanying making of.
