The Peerless Pantomime of Charlie Chaplin
DVD Talk Reviewer Jason Bovberg has just spent a dozen hours enjoying Charlie Chaplin's brilliant Essanay and Mutual short films, created from 1915 through 1917. Recently collected in a wonderful box set titled Charlie Chaplin Classic Short Films, the films showcase Chaplin's virtuoso silent-film pantomime, knock-down slapstick, and unique pathos. Chaplin had many imitators, but he was a true original in cinema. Check out Jason's in-depth, film-by film look at Chaplin's legacy.

The Aisle View: Cabin Fever & So Close
Proof that apples can fall very, very far from the tree: former Lynch editor Eli Roth makes his directoral debut in the predictable gore/snore fest Cabin Fever. DVD Savant: DVD Savant: The Outer Limits 2, The Howling, and Titanic
This week the DVD Savant takes a look at MGM's release of The Outer Limits the Original Series Volume Two - a handsome finish to the famed 60s Sci-fi show, Two more Educational Archives compilations from Fatima Religion and Patriotism - both freaky short educational and propaganda films of the past, Blue Underground's Q - The Winged Serpent - a class job that blows away the old DVD, A long-delayed Special Edition of Joe Dante's The Howling with most of the goodies from the old laser disc, plus an engaging new docu, Fox's Studio Classics disc of Titanic ain't no A Night to Remember, but it was made before most of the definitive research about the sinking was done and Home Vision's Home Movie a quaint tour of five weird houses and the people who inhabit them. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

CineSchlock-O-Rama: Squirm
While most were knee deep in hobbits and talking trees, columnist G. Noel Gross was slathered in his own idea of cinematic nirvana with Squirm -- the 5-star critter classic sparkles as never before in MGM's remastered release with commentary by electrified worm slinger/auteur Jeff Lieberman. A second CineSchlock-O-Rama's Most Wanted capture worth celebrating is Jim Carrey's vampiric sex comedy Once Bitten. Grossout guru Frank Henenlotter inflicts Brain Damage. The redneck Chaplin returns in Slam Dunk Ernest. B-siren Misty Mundae explores raunchy sibling rivalry in Sin Sisters. Plus, responses to reader emails and The Anderson Tapes joins the Most Wanted list.

DVD Talk Interviewer Phillip Duncan recently had a chance to talk with Galluzzo about the film. Sporting a good sense of humor and an immense knowledge of the filmmaking process, Galluzzo offered up his thoughts on bullfights, and the pros and cons of working with a studio on a film and brand name directors.
