A Decade Under The Influence Interview
Writer / director Richard LaGravenese's ascent to Hollywood's front rank of screenwriters was remarkably quick. His first solo screenplay for The Fisher King was nominated for an Academy Award, and he quickly followed up with equally successful, high profile projects. LaGravenese developed a friendship with the late Ted Demme after working with him on The Ref. This continuing friendship and collaboration - and sheer love of the movies - resulted in A Decade Under the Influence, a three-part documentary produced by IFC that chronicles the remarkable period of American cinema in the 1970(s). DVD Talk Interviewer Jason Janis had an opportunity to sit down and talk with Richard LaGravenese and talk about the experience of making Decade, his friendship with the late Ted Demme and his thoughts about what Martin Scorsese has to say about George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.

DVD Talk Review Round Up
With literally thousands of DVD Reviews in the DVD Talk Review Database is easy to miss some of our top reviews. Here's quick round up of them: Wrong Turn - Eliza Dushku make the right turn in this throw back horror flick. It's no surprise Disney has gotten another DVD Talk Collector Series Rating for The Lion King. The Fan fair may not be there but Osbournes - The Second Season is worth checking out. Spoon! - The Tick: The Entire Series gets an entire review. Once a hot import Samurai Fiction makes its debut state side. Speaking of debut - John Malkovich's directing debut...we take a look at The Dancer Upstairs. Finally we're waxing nostalgic for the Eighties with The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and Weird Science.

CineSchlock-O-Rama: The Hills Have Eyes
The excruciating wait for Wes Craven's relentless cult chiller The Hills Have Eyes proves well worthwhile thanks to Anchor Bay's hefty 2-disc special edition -- easily earning DVD Talk's highest recommendation. Eighties gem Three O'Clock High can't escape CineSchlock-O-Rama's Most Wanted either. Universal's Weird Science reissue delivers more digital boom boom. Political satire creeps into a bizarre double feature from The Godfather of Gore. Five lucky fans of R. Lee Ermey's History Channel phenom will snap to attention over this exclusive Mail Call: Best of Season One DVD giveaway. Plus, responses to reader emails and Tom Hanks' Mazes and Monsters joins the Most Wanted list.

Bad Movie Alerts
At DVD Talk we try to let you know about the best films on DVD, to that end we thought it would be helpful for you to be alerted to some of the worst so you can resist the temptation to rent or buy them: Boat Trip - proof positive that Cuba Gooding Jr's needs a new agent (also see...or rather don't see The Fighting Temptations). Speaking of bad careers gone worse there's always the latest Eddie Murphy in Daddy Daycare. Another stinker of a film now on DVD is Dreamcatcher - an absolute train wreck of a film avoid the curiosity, skip it. You might have heard the buzz about Run Ronnie Run not getting released into theaters, and there's a reason, even the film makers admit it's a stinker. Finally our DVD Savant can't even come up with one nice thing to say about More American Graffiti and he almost always can.

DVD Talk Interview: Rena Owen - Once Were Warriors & Star Wars Episode III
Once Were Warriors, a very powerful New Zealand film about domestic abuse and family heritage, has finally made an appearance on Region 1 DVD. DVD Talk Interviewer James Powell was lucky enough to sit down with one of the film's stars, Rena Owen, to discuss the film and how it effected her career. Owen, who has played roles in A.I. and the hit television series, Angel, was also kind enough to share some information about her roles in the Star Wars prequels and the sensational script of Episode III.
