DVD Savant: To Have and Have Not, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Dragonslayer
This week the DVD Savant takes a look at Warners' To Have and Have Not with star appeal at its best, a romantic couple famous for pairing up offscreen during the making of the movie, Fox's Studio Classics presentation of The Ox-Bow Incident proves that the studio doesn't play around with the cream of its library, A Christmas Wish a film really irks Savant as it's a remarketed, retitled, colorized bit of subterfuge. MGM's llavish Special Edition of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a film Savant grudgingly admits is some kind of a children's classic, even though it drives him up the wall, Paramount's beautifully transferred Dragonslayer, the handsome return of giant stop-motion monsters to the screen courtesy of ILM's animator Phil Tippett and Kino's The Man Who Laughs which is the best silent film Savant's seen in ages! Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

Finding Nemo: Austin Pendleton interview
Chances are you know Austin Pendleton even if you think you don't. The bespectacled character actor's slight frame, toothy grin and nervous stammer have endeared him as a film fixture for more than 30 years. Most recently, Austin shared an aquarium with the namesake of Finding Nemo, and in this exclusive interview, he offers his typically charming insights on character acting, why he thinks Russell Crowe is so swell, the vocal acrobatics of making Nemo and flashes his wicked wit in the face of unexpected interview shenanigans.

DVDs Just Announced
Here's a quick wrap up of some of the DVD titles just announced by studios: Fox has the much buzzed about Alien Quadrilogy Box Set on 12/9 which DOES include the Director's cut of Alien [Review] now in theaters, Columbia Tri-Star has Underworld on 1/6 [Review] - yes Kate Beckinsale looks great in leather but the movie pales in comparison to many of the great vampire flicks already on DVD, HBO has the controversial Capturing the Friedmans on 1/27 with a ton of extra content that gives even more fuel to the argument over what exactly happened and American Splendor on 2/3 [Review] one of the most innovative bio-pics we've ever seen, and certainly one of the best films of 2003! MGM has Rain Man: Special Edition on 2/3 with the key feature being a Barry Levinson's audio commentary and Buena Vista has Spy Kids 3D on 2/24 complete with several pairs of 3D glasses.
