Review:
Movie:
Jerry and Tom, starring Joe Mantegna (Tom) and Sam Rockwell (Jerry), is a movie about two used car salesmen who, a few times a year, also perform hits ordered by their boss. Tom is an aging professional who takes Jerry under his wing and teaches him the ropes. Jerry's first experience leaves him feeling weak, but after a few more outings, he catches on, and later begins to enjoy killing. Shocked by Jerry's later actions, Tom finds himself on a downward spiral that might cost both of them their lives.

I thought Jerry and Tom was a well-done movie about hit men. Some of the transitions during the film are a bit jarring and the story is a bit slow in spots, but these are the only negatives. The movie also provides quite a few laughs, especially from Sam Rockwell. Both the leads do a terrific job with the material and their acting is top-notch. Other notable actors who make an appearance include: Ted Danson, Charles Durning, William H. Macy, Peter Riegert, and Maury Chaykin.

Picture:
Jerry and Tom is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. There are one or two marks in the print; however, besides these, the print is terrific. Flesh tones are accurate, colors are vibrant, and blacks are rich.

Sound:
Jerry and Tom is presented in both an English Dolby Surround 5.1 track and a Spanish Dolby Surround 2.0 track. The surrounds are pretty limited throughout the film, especially the rear channels, which are really only utilized for the score. The dialogue is crisp and clean throughout the film.

Extras:
Jerry and Tom contains nothing remarkable in the way of extras; you get only chapter selections and English captions.

Summary:
Anyone interested in the genre should give Jerry and Tom a look, as it features an interesting story and great acting. Recommended.
