Beethoven's 3rd

Review by Jeff Field | posted September 24, 2000 | E-mail the Author
Features: Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen Print.

The Movie: I'm asking myself why. Why did they make a second sequel when the first sequel was pretty bad? Then I remember little kids like anything (well, most of them). So of course they would make another one. Anyway. This movie isn't good for adults, however, children seem to like this movie, and that's who it is targeted at. The movie revolves around the same dog from the first two Beethovens, and the plot is also the same. Beethoven (now in the possesion of the original owners brother) is going on a roadtrip with the Newtons to a family reunion, where he will be delivered to his family. On the way, they encounter thieves, and Beethoven thwarts them. Amazing. It's just like the first two.

The Picture: The picture is 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen. The transfer is excellent and free of artifacts and such. Very clear print as well.

The Sound: The sound is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround. The sound is clear, although the use of surrounds is far from agressive, but this isn't exactly an action movie

The Extras: Basic Universal extras. Trailer, Production Notes, Cast/Filmmakers Biographical info, Web Link

Conclusion: If you have kids, and a DVD player, rent this movie, and if it looks like they'll want to see it over and over, pick up a copy. Otherwise I'd suggest you stay away from this movie, as it has a tendency to make your head hurt.
