Tender Loving Care

Review by Chuck Arrington | posted January 26, 2000 | E-mail the Author
Synopsis:The film is part thriller, part psychologically manipulative & part erotic voyeurism. As the player you are detective, Judge, Patient & voyeur all at the same time. Dr.Turner (John Hurt) leads you through a series of events & then solicits answers to questions he poses in an attempt to create a psychological profile of the viewer. As the profile is established, the twists & turns of the events within the film are shaped by your perceptions. The story revolves around a painfully deluded patient, her husband & a mysterious & seductive nurse who is intent on providing what may or may not be considered Tender Loving Care. You decide how the story proceeds & ultimately how it turns out.

Audio:The audio platform offers a Dolby Digital Stereo presentation that is in a word boring. There are no audio special effects & nothing to give your surround even the easiest of workouts.

Video:The video is a non anamorphic widescreen presentation that was neither exceptionally bad or exceptionally good. It adequately presented the images with nothing of any particular interest in regards to imperfections.

Extras:The extras if you will come in the form of alternate scenes, multiple endings and the personality analysis. Pretty neat stuff actually.

Overall:The level of interactivity with this disc is really well done. A bit confusing at first, it's pace picks up & engages you from start to finish. Depending on how you answer the questions posed dictates how the story ebbs & flows. This is really a must see if you are at all interested in the interactivity of this medium.
