Video: Jumanji is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, with the same transfer as the original release. This transfer looks excellent, with superb detail and an overall sharpness that makes the movie more film like to watch. The colors, oh the colors, look perfect, with the lush jungle greens and the deep detail visible within all the textures of the plants, creatures, and sets is amazing! Black levels are nothing short of perfect, with great depth and no detail sacrificed. No compression artifacts either, this is truly a five star transfer.

Audio: Jumanji is the type of movie to invite friends over and show off your system with. James Horner's amazing score is heard perfectly with the powerful 5.1 track on this disc. The score is a perfect fit for the movie, with some seriously cool tribal themes. The effects are fast and furious, escpecially once the game starts taking over the house and the world outside it. Your surrounds will get a serious workout, with activity in all sections, with fantastic bass and directional effects. Of course, even with all the rumblings and such, dialogue comes through clear as a bell, which was surprising. Another great reason to buy this disc!

Extras: Columbia has reissued Jumanji as a special edition, and this disc is special. First off, you get three behind the scenes videos, one for the house's set, one for the animal effects, and then a generic making og. All three are entertaining, yet a little brief, but together they form a unique and in depth look at Jumanji. There is also an informative running commentary with three special effects team members, who give some great technical data on the film. It may not be the most exciting commentary there is, but it is packed with info. The disc houses three storyboard to film comparisons as well, each showing the rough sketches while the finished product plays. It's a good way to get a feel for how the scenes are planned out. The final major feature is an extensive, and I mean that, photo gallery, which contains a literal wharehouse of stills. Rough shots, preproduction shots, concept stuff, it's got it all. A very nice touch by Columbia indeed. Rounding out the disc are talent files, production notes on the insert, and the teaser and theatrical trailer. Two bonus trailer for other Columbia family movies are also included.
