Muse, The

The Movie: The Muse, the latest film from comic genius Albert Brooks features Sharon Stone in one of her best performances of recent memory. Sharon Stone plays Sarah, The Muse, a goddess whose father was Zeus. Struggling screen-writer Steven Phillips (Brooks) has lost "his edge." Paramount has dumped him and he essentially has no job opportunities. All is lost. Steven goes to his best friend Jack (Jeff Bridges) for some advice where he learns about Sarah. Problem is, Sarah doesn't take on many new clients and once she is your "muse" she becomes quite costly.

The Muse eventually helps Steven to write a script and even helps Laura Phillips (Andie MacDowell) with her dream of being a cook. Sharon Stone plays the Muse perfectly and is spectacular in her role. Albert Brooks is also hilarious from his jokes at the Humanitarian Awards to his interaction with the Muse. By adding all of the cameos by different actors and directors, Brooks was able to add more life to the film.

The Picture: The picture is crystal clear. Crisp and bright colors throughout make this transfer superb.

The Sound: The sound is as good as could be expected - no really intense scenes to test out your system in this mostly dialouge-driven film. The background music (composed by Elton John) is subtle enough, but is noticeable - just the right mix. Nothing to complain about here.

The Extras: The extras are great, but not what there could be. The featurette is fun with interviews of the cast and crew. The trailers and filmographies are standard on DVDs nowadays and are a nice addition. The menus are beuatifully created and a nice addition to this DVD.

Conclusion: A hilarious film packed with ample extras, this is a great disc. If you can find it on sale somewhere, pick it up. I'm currently watching it for my 3rd time and it's just as funny - great for repeat viewings, the great script and acting combine perfectly for this great movie. A must see!
