Chris Rock - Bigger & Blacker
Dolby Stereo Sound, Chris Rock Bio, Best of the Chris Rock Show Trailers.
The Show:
Chris Rock, in case you've never seen him, puts on some of the most energetic, interesting and funny stand-up shows you could ever see. Some people, due to his profanity-laced language, write him off as "unintelligent". I would however choose a different word, "realistic". Rock spends much of the 65-minute disc talking about current American Society - from youth violence to who should get the biggest piece of the chicken. It is Chris Rock's unique views on these important topics that makes his stand-up some of the best around.
Picture:
The picture on the disc is excellent, with no visible artifacts and good clarity. The show is presented in fullscreen, as it was originally filmed.
Sound:
Tho the back of the case lists the audio as Dolby Surround, even when I turned on Surround manually, I noticed no difference, so I'm fairly certain it is really a 2-channel track. However, this hardly matters for this type of performance, and the sound is more than adequate for the show. The sound is clear, which is really all that matters for this sort of disc.
Extras:
The extras on this disc are ok, but nothing stunning. Included is a bio of Chris Rock, as well as Trailers for The Best of the Chris Rock show. It would have been nice if this disc contained some of Rock's other performances, or perhaps an interview with Rock himself.
Conclusion:
For those who like this type of Comedy, and don't mind a good bit of profanity, I recommend renting this disc, because while I love Chris Rock's shows, this disc doesn't have much repeat viewing value unless you are a fan of his. If you are a fan, definately purchase this disc for your collection.
