GALAXY QUEST

Synopsis:

Never give up, Never Surrender! Galaxy Quest is part parody, part space adventure & total comic relief! The crew of the NSEA Protector have sworn to protect & uphold the liberty of all life it comes in contact with. That is until their series was cancelled. Now Commander Peter Quincy Taggart (Tim Allen) Dr. Lazarus (Alan Rickman) Lt. Tawny Madison (Sigourney Weaver) & the rest of the bridge crew, Laredo, Tech Sgt. Chen & Crewman #6 are eeking out a living on the Sci-Fi convention circuit, until envoys of the Thermian race request their assistance in defeating the greatest enemy their race has ever known. Having reviewed the "Historical Documents", the Thermians know the only hope for saving their people lies in the hands of the Crew of the NSEA Protector & their knowledge of the mysterious yet powerful Omega 13! Thinking this just another, Sci-Fi gig, Commander Taggart accompanies the Thermians to their "Space Ship" & is blown away…mentally, when he realizes it's a "REAL" space ship! Galaxy Quest is probably one of the funniest movies I have ever seen! As a fan of Star Trek for over 30 years, I greatly enjoyed this session of good-natured ribbing!

Video:

The disc is presented in an incredible anamorphic transfer that is so crystal clean it's almost three-dimensional! There were no imperfections of any kind noted in the transfer. This is the way DVD was made to look! Easily reference material.

Audio:

The audio is a blistering 5.1 digital presentation that will knock your socks off, & anything else you happen to be wearing as well! The surrounds & sub are put to incredibly good use, especially during the "beaming"sequences & the battle scenes. It's an incredible aural experience that has been given the absolute best audio treatment I have heard to date. Extras:

Extras did you say? This disc is absolutely loaded! There's an "On location in Space" featurette, featuring Rickman, Allen & the producers of the film that's absolutely comical. 8 Deleted scenes, that really should have stayed in the film. A Thermian language track that is initially quite cute however, an entire film in that language would be unbearable! A Trailer for the film as well as trailers for three other Dreamworks productions, Cast & filmmakers' bios & the obligatory production notes. Additionally, there are a couple of Easter eggs included in the Cast bios. And the Omega 13!!! Yes, they actually included it on the disc! Lastly, I think the menus should be categorized as an extra as well. They are so well crafted they deserve special mention! They're pretty neat too!

Overall: Galaxy Quest is one of the best films I have ever seen bar none! Its level of creativity is on such a high plane that few films will be able to equal it in any measure. My wife & I had so much fun when we saw it in its theatrical release, we couldn't wait for its DVD debut! Now that it's here we are enjoying it all over again. I indoctrinated my wife in most things Trek & she really got a kick out of the Trek Parody Galaxy Quest provides! Incredible fun, hilarious situations, "By Grapthar's hammer", you must see this film
