Farscape is a science fiction cable television series that chronicles the life of an astronaut, John Crichton, who's thrown into another part of the Universe by means of a wormhole. He appears in the middle of a space battle, accidentally killing the brother of an important alien commander just before taking refuge with a group of escaped prisoners of various species. As the series progresses, his life is turned upside down when he is given advanced knowledge of wormholes by an even more advanced alien race. This knowledge causes him to be hunted down by the dominant species of the region who think it will give them a strategic advantage against their enemies.

Movie: Farscape 3.1 is the first two disc set of season three that chronicle the life and times of John Crichton and the crew of Moya who are all looking to go home and escape the hostile forces that are closing in on them. The show is now cancelled but likely to resurface in either movie or book form before too long. Here's a brief description of the four episodes here as provided by ADV (to minimize spoilers):

Season of Death
"Although Scorpius' neural chip has been removed, Crichton feels he has no reason to live - Aeryn is dead, his power of speech is gone, and the Scorpy clone remains in his mind. What's more, the crew of Moya discover they have more than just Crichton and Scorpius to deal with… lurking in the Medical Facility is a murderous Scarran." The crew fares somewhat better than they did in the cliffhanger from last season. John gets his voice back, Aeryn is returned from the dead, and Scorpius has been fought back once more-sort of.

Suns and Lovers
"Eager to spend currency from the Shadow Depository heist, the crew of Moya head to a Commerce Station. When the station is severely damaged by sudden violent storms, Moya becomes ensnared in the docking cables. As it becomes clear that the storms are not natural phenomena, and the crew looks to escape, D'Argo learns that Chiana has betrayed him." Religious fanatics cause a lot of damage and the crew bears the brunt of it. Will the crew be able to save D'Argo and a group of children before it's too late?

Self Inflicted Wounds, Part 1: Could'a, Would'a, Should'a
"While searching for a planet to heal the dying Zhaan, Moya collides and fuses with a small spacecraft, seriously injuring Moya and trapping both ships in a series of looping wormholes. Crichton and the captain of the other ship, Neeyala, soon realize that one of the ships must be sacrificed if any of them are to survive." A new character, Jool, is introduced.

Self Inflicted Wounds, Part 2: Wait for the Wheel
"Hoping to preserve their own ship at Moya's expense, Neeyala's crew sabotage Moya, hastening her disintegration. As the situation worsens, the only possibility of saving Moya requires that one of her crew make the ultimate sacrifice." Picture: The picture was presented in full frame 1.33:1 ratio and looked great! I saw no artifacts or other problems with it.

Sound: The sound options included 5.1 Dolby Digital or 2.0 stereo. Both were very solid and far superior to the original cable television presentation.

Final Thoughts: While it only had four episodes, there were more extras here to make up for it. The commentary in particular was very informative but the other extras were also good. The show was one of the best science fiction series on television and it's hoped that whatever follows the series will continue to expand the universe of the crew of Farscape. I highly recommend this one to anyone who likes the show, is into science fiction, or prefers a show that isn't as predictable as far to many shows are these days.
