This one really hurt.

20th Century-Fox's Cinema Archives vault of hard-to-find cult and library titles has released The Sweet Ride, the 1968 biker/surfer exploiter starring Anthony Franciosa, Michael Sarrazin, Jacqueline Bisset, and Bob Denver--a movie I've been waiting a particularly long time to see because of Bisset and her singular lack of clothes in it. The Sweet Ride was originally shot in 2.35 Panavision. Here, it's presented in a panned-and-scanned 4 x 3 transfer (the opening credits and even the included trailer are presented correctly, though). Fox has been all over the map with these Cinema Archives releases; I just watched the minor, relatively obscure Oh, Men! Oh, Women!, and it sported a solid anamorphic widescreen transfer, so go figure. Information on the web is sketchy about which titles are botched. So, in an effort to help other fans like myself who want these movies presented correctly, and who don't want to waste their money on fatally compromised product...skip this completely f*cked release of The Sweet Ride, because there's no excuse, Fox--NONE--for releasing a panned-and-scanned transfer of a widescreen movie in 2013.
