For all of you who are fed up with the political correctness stuffed down your throat almost every time you turn on the TV, The Man Show is a breath of fresh air. Sophomoric humor by the two hosts, Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla and their cast of misfits (Bill Foster as "The Fox" being the most notable in the first season), actually works because in virtually every case-they're funny! The series is a vignette of skits, not unlike many modern day comedies, with the exception that the show was never afraid to offend anyone.

The skits included things like:
Household Hints From Porn Stars: This is where the guys get to hear tips on how to do chores from porn stars. Jenna polishing a candlestick holder was especially cool but the others were hot too.
Manovations: This is a skit where the guys talk about inventions they'd like to see. From a transistor that wipes a woman's opinions away to a chicken grown with 50 wings, each invention addresses a need as the guys see it. The new millennium edition was a millenovation special and seeing the helpful robot was cute.
Monkey Bar: The skit has chimpanzee's in a bar telling jokes. It sounds lame but a lot of the jokes were good (and others were groaners).
Polls: Jimmy and Adam would ask people, usually women, for their opinion on something, typically sexual in nature.
Women dancing on trampolines: At the end of each show, women in skimpy outfits would jump up and down on a large trampoline. Yum!

Some of the highlights of this particular boxed set included the special Woman Show where the guys goofed on women in a spoof of their own show, the Super Bowl show, and the underwear show where the guys got to see a lot more of the Juggies. Each show had a general theme and the skits all centered, to some extent or another, on the theme at hand, but rarely were the skits weak. The Season One, Volume Two set included three discs and had episodes 1.11, 1.08, 1.13, 1.12, 1.16, 1.15, 1.17, 1.18, 1.19, 1.20, 1.21, and 1.22 (in that order) since that was the original airing order of them (from 11/3/99 to 1/26/00).

One of the biggest complaints fans have had about The First Boxed Set, was that the nudity was pixilated (just as the show was originally aired) and that swear words were bleeped (again, just like when aired). Well, there was some nudity this time, a full breast shot and swearing at times. Personally, if I want to see adult material, I just pop in a porno but I suppose other people prefer the limitations of cable television shows. So, from the loads of cleavage to the scores of ass shots and everything in between, you'll get what you expect this time.

I'm a fairly new fan to the show and never got to see the first couple of seasons so boxed sets like this one are great for me. A dozen episodes at a good price and some decent extras made this well worth a rating of Highly Recommended. The picture has improved a bit over the last volume and you get a lot of material for the costs of the set. I just hope future volumes will be full season sets and have more extras. Good job.

Picture: The picture was presented in its original 1.33:1 ratio full frame color. It looked great compared to my cable version with no compression artifacts. For a low budget show, it looked very well done and the picture improved with the later episodes (the DVD transfer was better as well).

Sound: The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English. It was very crisp and clear with minimal separation between the channels. The vocals and music were well mixed and didn't have any problems with varying levels.

Extras: The extras this time were very much like on the first volume (a good thing, I must say). There was a short Oprah Jimfrey special, a section of commentary by Charlton Heston's Penis, Man Show Miracles (extremely funny to any man who has been in a relationship with a woman), more Karl Malone quips, and, of course, Girls Jumping On Trampolines! Lastly, there was a paper insert that detailed the episodes, their original run dates on cable and some pictures. The boxed set itself was a bit different this time, dispensing with the individual thin cases and having a wider body case with space for three discs, which was much more durable.

Final Thoughts: It's a fun show to watch and fans will be happy with it if the buzz about the new hosts (Jimmy and Adam left last season) is shared by all. I think the new guys are pretty good but I prefer the original crew as they had the format down pat and seemed to know what guys think about on a deeper level than what I've seen lately. The combination of solid production values, good amount of material, and overall quality made me think people will enjoy this volume as much as I did.
