THE MOVIE

It's time for another episode of Cops, or as I like to call it, "The White Trash Variety Hour". This DVD contains the original hour-long (actually only 49 minutes, since it needed to leave space for commercials) television episode Cops: Bad Girls, plus about 18-minutes of "Too Hot For TV" bonus footage, which contains more profanity than it does nudity.

Instead of calling it "Bad Girls", the producers might have been better off calling it "Skanky Girls", since the vast majority of the women you'll see here are not exactly what I'd call "date material". Some of the situations they find themselves in, however, are quite amusing to watch.

The title opens with a cop seeing a t-shirted woman sitting on the hood of some guy's car. The problem here is that she's only wearing a t-shirt...and trust me, this lady needs to be wearing a whole lot more...like maybe a parka! The police officer checks out the guy's ID and makes the determination that he wasn't looking to hire this lady for some sexual fun. The woman however, gets ticketed for indecent exposure...but I got the impression that she wasn't going to pay – let alone hang on to the ticket!

Next we have a scruffy-looking guy who hails a police officer and claims that two women stole his wallet out of his truck. What he fails to confess...and what we soon find out...is that the two women are prostitutes and the guy was trying to hire both of them. Caught in his lie, both the prostitutes and the guy wind up getting arrested.

One of my favorite encounters on this DVD is a fight that breaks out between a racist woman and her daughter and some Asian-Americans. Apparently, there was some road rage involved here, and the woman winds up scratching at one of the Asian gentleman's faces, and then takes a tire iron to his SUV!

Other incidents involve some young teenagers who steal some CDs out of a guy's truck, a fight that takes place between a young woman and a married man in his front yard, a woman who gets stopped for not having a plate for her car or a driver's license and winds up getting caught with a ton of money and drugs, and a highly intoxicated young lady who seems to be hanging on to reality by such a small thread that the cops have to take into custody at a motel.

THE DVD

Video:
The video is presented in the full-frame format and is about what you'd expect for the transfer of a television series that is shot on video. The quality is about average – not particularly sharp, but with no real problems with pixilation or other glitches.

Audio:
The audio is presented in 2.0 Dolby – and sounds pretty good considering all the material was shot via hand-held video. It sounds at least as good as the episodes do on TV, if not slightly better.

Extras:
In addition to a chapter selection and a subtitle option, the only real extra here is a roughly 18-minute Too Hot For TV section, which provides some bonus footage (some from the 49-minute show, some of it not) that isn't censored. While you will get to see some nudity (mostly of biker chicks at a rally...and not very attractive ones!), most of this material consists of drunken rednecks swearing at the police, threatening to sue them for brutality, and saying nasty things about their mothers!

THE BOTTOM LINE

Unless you are a Cops fanatic, this isn't the kind of DVD you'll want to add to your collection – simply because you probably wouldn't watch it more than one or two times. But as a rental, this makes for quite an enjoyable evening of entertainment.
