| Biography: | das Monkey was born in Joliet, Illinois, but after an industrial accident at his father's power plant, the family moved to the neighboring town of Shermer where he spent most of his childhood. At the age of 16, the family moved once again, this time to San Dimas, California where an internship at Walker TV/Radio Repair inspired an obsession with television. Against his parents' wishes, he travelled cross-country to attend college at the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Television History. Turning his back on that degree, he supported his family with numerous odd jobs over the years, from selling shower curtain rings to managing a pork transportation service, but a "3 DVDs for $1.00" deal eventually brought him to DVD Talk in 1999, and he has remained ever since.
Currently, das resides in Hill Valley, a small suburb of Atlanta, where he grows all his own food and contributes human interest stories to the local "Telegraph". His free time is dominated by television and sports, and when he's not reviewing DVDs, he's performing with his improv comedy troupe at the Laugh Trak.
In addition to DVD reviews, das Monkey also contributes event coverage:
