In Short: Very enjoyable image/audio quality, but not much else.

Disney's classic about the evil Cruella De Vil, who kidnaps the puppies of two London dalmatians and the rescue of the pups involving the two dogs and their human owners. It's an enjoyable, fun movie and one of Disney's most entertaining features.

Where Disney's latest (Mulan) was dissapointing, "101 Dalmatians" fares much in the same manner as "Pinocchio" did; the image quality is suprisingly strong for a movie that that was made over thirty years ago. Colors have held up impressively, looking still rich and solid for their age. There really isn't that much in the way of grain, either. Although it is apparent in some scenes, it remains fairly slight throughout. The full-frame picture is nicely sharp throughout, as well.

Although it certainly doesn't have the same range as films of this day and age, the quality of the sound on this disc is considerable for a film of its age. Almost completely, this film involves dialogue and score as the the main sound features and both retain impressive clarity. There are no problems with distortion or anything of that matter for a pleasing experience.

The disc contains just about the most basic menu I've seen in a while, with very plain art from the film as the background. Only a full-frame trailer for the re-release of the movie is included as an extra.

Final Thoughts: Quality-wise, I was pleased with this disc, but that's about all I was pleased with. There are really no extras of note on this release, especially painful when the asking price is $39.99. Like the rest of the Disney DVDs, if must buy them, your best bet would be finding them online for cheaper.
