DVD Savant: Casino Royale, The Thin Man, Italian for Beginners and more
This week The DVD Savant takes a look at Casino Royale graced with a director interview that provides some very welcome explanations of how this crazy mess got this way. Miramax's Italian for Beginners, an old-fashioned love soap told from within the Dogme 95 discipline. Mysterious Island Ray Harryhausen's imitation of a Bert Gordon film - big bugs, big crabs, big birds! Image's Germany Year Zero a hard-hitting, socially conscious story of a hapless boy living in the ruins of a Berlin just beginning to rebuild from the bombings of WW2. And two from Warner Bros The Thin Man and The Shop around the Corner . Read all this an more in this week's DVD Savant.
