DVD Savant: To Have and Have Not, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Dragonslayer
This week the DVD Savant takes a look at Warners' To Have and Have Not with star appeal at its best, a romantic couple famous for pairing up offscreen during the making of the movie, Fox's Studio Classics presentation of The Ox-Bow Incident proves that the studio doesn't play around with the cream of its library, A Christmas Wish a film really irks Savant as it's a remarketed, retitled, colorized bit of subterfuge. MGM's llavish Special Edition of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a film Savant grudgingly admits is some kind of a children's classic, even though it drives him up the wall, Paramount's beautifully transferred Dragonslayer, the handsome return of giant stop-motion monsters to the screen courtesy of ILM's animator Phil Tippett and Kino's The Man Who Laughs which is the best silent film Savant's seen in ages! Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
