The DVD Savant: Accidental Tourist, One From The Heart and Mutiny on the Bounty
This week the DVD Savant takes a look The Accidental Tourist - Lawrence Kasdan's civilized comedy is also an intense drama about emotional withdrawal and our need for other people, Swing Shift - this Rosie-the-Riveter story had a lot of potential but misses by a wide margin, reportedly because of star interference, Mutiny on the Bounty - Charles Laughton and Clark Gable generate enough acting power to upstage the giant production in this impressive MGM Golden Age classic. Still as good as any seagoing epic ever made and One From The Heart - coppola's musical romance is just so-so, but the story of his American Zoetrope studio covered in this disc's ample docus and extras is remarkable. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
