DVD Savant: Vanishing Point and The Chaplin Collection Volume 2
This week The DVD Savant takes a look at: The Chaplin Collection Vol 2 - Warners brings out a fat box loaded with the balance of the Chaplin legacy: The Chaplin Revue, The Kid, A Woman of Paris, The Circus, City Lights, Monsieur Verdoux, A King in New York. There's also last year's Richard Schickel docu on Chaplin, Charlie - The Life and Art of Charlie Chaplin. Also this week Savant takes a look at: Vanishing Point - Pill-popping Barry Newman doesn't Just Say No, and leads the police of three states on a merry cross-desert chase, The Dresser - Albert Finney is terrific as "Sir" an insufferable ham at the end of his days and Onibaba - Two murderous marsh women tangle with the supernatural in this frightening and beautiful horror tale from Kaneto Shindo. One of the top horror films ever. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
