DVD Savant: Wyatt Earp and The Tin Drum
This week The DVD Savant has reviews of Wyatt Earp - an attempt to finally wrap up the myth of the frontier lawman into a bonfide American epic, Joan of Arc - the color is magnificent in this (finally) uncut 1948 version of the oft-told story, The Tin Drum - Gunther Grass's nobel-winning novel becomes an equally brilliant bizarre movie under the tutelage of Volker Schlondorff, Girl with a Pearl Earring - last year's most beautiful Oscar contender is a delight for eyes ruined by contemporary 'gritty' movies, Mr. Klein - it's North by NorthWest minus the thrills and The Trial with a more intriguing mystery in the truly creepy setting of German-occupied France. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
