Silent DVD - Edison - The Invention of the Movies
This week's Silent DVD has the latest news about upcoming silent releases, new information about this year's San Francisco Silent Film Festival, and takes a look at a new boxed set of movies from cinema's earliest days; Edison - The Invention of the Movies. Edison - The Invention of the Movies, an impressive four DVD boxed set released by Kino, charts the rise and fall of this important studio through 140 films that produced from the 1890's to 1918. This set has many unique and interesting movies including the very first blockbuster, The Great Train Robbery, and a the feature length film The Unbeliever staring Erich Von Stroheim.
