Docs Rock! Top DVD Documentaries Reviewed
This week, turn off reality TV, skip out on Hollywood's latest offering and spend some time with some of the best films out on DVD - documentaries. At DVD Talk we're big fans of docs and we have reviews of many of the notable new documentaries including: The Fearless Freaks (The Wondrously Improbable Story of The Flaming Lips) - a film that shows how a band can grow from something good into something truly great; Sex Pistols - The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle - an eye-opening examination on the rise and rapid fall of the late 70s punk rock movement; Chop Socky - Cinema Hong Kong - an interesting look at the always fascinating history of Hong Kong’s contribution to action films through the martial arts genre; Stooges: The Men Behind the Mayhem - a treasure trove of information on the Stooges including a ton of supplementary features ; Unforgivable Blackness - The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson - a brilliant hones t look at the life and career of Jack Johnson, but in recounting that story, Burns also tells the story of this nation. Read reviews for these and other amazing documentaries in the DVD Talk review database.
