DVD Savant - The Narrow Margin, Crossfire and Born to Kill
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: The Narrow Margin -the best of the new noirs is a practically perfect train-bound thriller; Le notti bianche Luchino Visconti tells a strange romantic tale with Marcello Mastroianni and Maria Schell; Crossfire - Roberts Ryan, Young and Mitchum make a study in contrasting acting styles in this atmospheric thriller, the first of the socially conscious issue films; Born to Kill - Lawrence Tierney makes an intimidating psycho bad guy in this gutsy if muddled attempt at a lurid romantic thriller; The Browning Version - a minor classic with a major performance from Michael Redgrave; Hustle - Robert Aldrich looks at corruption in LA, and what happens when Ben Johnson's 'nobody' goes for revenge. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
