DVD Savant: Flowers of St. Francis, Eolomea and Disney's Timeless Tales
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: The Flowers of St. Francis - one of the most gentle and pure pictures about the Christian ethos ever filmed; Johnny Tremain - Disney's history lesson is cleaned up and sweetened for 'family' consumption; Walt Disney's Timeless Tales Volume 1 -
a kiddie collection with some prime Silly Symphonies: The Three Little Pigs, The Grasshopper and the Ants and more; Walt Disney's Timeless Tales Volume 2 -
Disney's second dip into kiddie territory isn't as desirable as the first, but there's still some good content here; The American Experience: Victory in the Pacific - A superlative, eye-opening and unbiased PBS look at the 'unprecedented orgy of slaughter' that was the end of the war in the Pacific; Eolomea - spaceships are disappearing and the female head of the space program is frightened to think that it might be a political conspiracy -- or an invasion by aliens; Jamboree - Warner's teen musical has 21 full songs but is not one of the better of its kind. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
