New DVD Reviews: Memoirs of a Geisha, My Neighbor Totoro and Forty Shades of Blue
Now with over 15,000 DVD reviews in the DVD Talk Review Database, it's easy to overlook some of the great reviews. Recent DVD Reviews include: Memoirs of a Geisha - visually astonishing but dramatically inert an easy DVD to recommend but a hard one to love; My Neighbor Totoro and
Whisper of the Heart - two extremely fine additions to any Miyazaki collection; The Comedians of Comedy: The Movie - a kinda-sorta-documentary intermingling stand-up performances with candid footage of Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Zach Galifianakis, and Maria Bamford; Rumpole of the Bailey Megaset: The Complete Series - few shows are as rewarding as Rumpole of the Bailey and it's one that holds up extremely well to multiple viewings; TransGeneration - a series which exemplifies why television was invented: it brings us together, it introduces us to new people and new ideas, it proves that this world is smaller than we think it is; Forty Shades of Blue - an engaging, well made drama with an underriding sense of loneliness that gives it the feel of a film from the 1970's; Tales from the Crypt - The Complete Third Season - a fantastic roster of directorial talent, great writers, some amazing casting choices, and of course, a wise cracking undead puppet to open and close each episode. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
