This Week's Notable DVDs: Smokey and the Bandit: SE, Bette Davis Collection: V2, and Joey: S1
A strong week for notable classic films on DVD this week including: Smokey and the Bandit: SE [Review] - the Burt Reynolds vehicle about running booze across state lines and messing with police that relied heavily on the actor's charisma and charm; The Bette Davis Collection: V2 [Review] - the second volume of Bette Davis pictures includes the excellent What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? [Review] and an exclusive 90-minute Turner Classic Movies documentary that you'll miss out on if you pick up these titles separately; Joey: S1 [Review] - this spin-off of one of the most successful television shows of all time hopes to get a second chance and gain a following on DVD; Night Stalker: Complete Series [Review] - this recent remake of a cult favorite isn't quite as good as the original but is still entertaining enough to warrant a quality DVD that ties up some loose ends with four unaired episodes. Other Notable DVDs out this week include:
Dan Aykroyd: Unplugged on UFOs [Review], Billy Connolly: Live in NY [Review], Oh! Calcutta! [Review].
