Joel Schumacher follows up The Phantom of the Opera with a twisted little thriller called The Number 23 with Jim Carrey in the latest of his non-comedic roles. The mystery unravels as Carrey becomes obsessed with a book that's, apparently, based on his life. Virginia Madsen costars.
