New Movie Reviews: Number 23, Reno 911!: Miami, and Astronaut Farmer
Joel Schumacher follows up The Phantom of the Opera with a twisted little thriller called The Number 23 with Jim Carrey in the latest of his non-comedic roles. The mystery unravels as Carrey becomes obsessed with a book that's, apparently, based on his life. Virginia Madsen costars. Funny, I thought The Number 23 was the amount of dollar bills you'll shell out if you see this flick in New York City as it opens this weekend. Wink, wink... Also in theaters this week is Reno 911!: Miami - Comedy Central's hilarious series comes to the big screen in all its uncensored glory; The Astronaut Farmer - Billy Bob Thornton, Virginia Madsen, and Bruce Dern star in this film about an astronaut who decides to retire in order to save his family farm; and Amazing Grace - Michael Apted directs this interesting and admirable period drama. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Ghost Rider, Bridge to Terabithia, Breach, Music and Lyrics, An Unreasonable Man, Daddy's Little Girls, Factory Girl, Hannibal Rising. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.
