DVD Savant: When a Woman Ascends the Stairs and Green For Danger
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Green For Danger - The Saunders and Gilliat filmmaking team give us a cracking-good murder mystery set in a country hospital with V-1 buzz bombs raining down on their heads; When a Woman Ascends the Stairs - Mikio Naruse makes a drama about a woman in the working world that makes most American 'women's pictures' pale in comparison; A Lizard in a Woman's Skin -
Florinda Bolkan has some problems "under her skin", alright, but I now know some dogs who would rather not be singing "Deep in the heart of me"; Sins of the Fleshapoids - Eccentric director Mike Kuchar comes out swinging with his camped-up, kooky futuristic underground epic (1965) about forbidden love among humanoids. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
