Longbaugh Film Festival
If you are in Portland, Oregon or even in the remote vicinity of Portland, this weekend you've got to get down to the Longbaugh Film Festival. Run by DVD Talk contributor David Walker, this truly independent film festival features some of the best films that aren't on your radar screen. The opening night film of the festival Darius Goes West is the kind of brilliant documentary that you'll be telling people to run and see. Other festival highlights include: Commit - an extremely well written piece that shows just how much you can do with a movie completely focused on two people; Everything's Gone Green - noted author Douglas Copleand (Generation X, Microserfs, Jpod) writes the screenplay for a quirky and beautiful film that is sure to find its way into the spotlight; Pezheads - a documentary looking at the obsessiveness of collectors of those little candy dispensers; Room 314 - when you combine great acting with great writing and add solid directing you get a great film no matter what the budget. Also if you have kids, be sure to check out the Lil' Longbaugh program with foreign and indie films just for kids. Truly independent film fests are becoming an endangered species, so we're happy to give our support to Longbaugh.
