DVD Savant: History Boys, Errol Flynn Collection 2 and The Natural
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: The History Boys -
The entire cast of the National Theatre production is transferred to the screen intact, with a sensational performance by Richard Griffiths; Errol Flynn: The Signature Collection Volume 2 - a mixed batch of Flynn adventures. All but one are good and one is perhaps the great lover's best performance; The Natural Director's Cut -
Barry Levinson re-cuts his stirring baseball epic, adding footage and making the confusing opening cohere better; Boomerang! - An insightful commentary track reveals Elia Kazan's first 'personal' film as a subversive indictment of small town corruption and injustice -- while telling a story of a triumph of the justice system; Another Sky -
The only film directed by respected writer Gavin Lambert is a fascinating, absorbing tale of a woman seduced by the exoticism of North Africa. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
