DVD Savant: Cult Camp Classics
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Cult Camp Classics Vol.1: Sci-Fi Thrillers - Warner Bros. breaks out the Allied Artists library of late '50s monster exploitation pictures: Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, The Giant Behemoth and Queen of Outer Space; Cult Camp Classics Vol. 2: Women in Peril - the collection starts with the excellent Caged, the first modern 'women in prison' film, and continues with major stars Lana Turner and Joan Crawford making utter ninnies of themselves in The Big Cube and Trog; Cult Camp Classics Volume 4: Historical Epics - an interesting spread of epic sword 'n sandal pix, the embarrassing Biblical sextravaganza The Prodigal, Howard Hawks' superior and much maligned Land of the Pharaohs, and Sergio Leone's not-bad Italo offering The Colossus of Rhodes; Gary Cooper MGM Movie Legends Collection - This collection rounds up three titles from the Goldwyn library - The Winning of Barbara Worth, The Cowboy and the Lady, The Real Glory and a reissue of Robert Aldrich's violent Vera Cruz; Love Stories - Polish writer-director-actor Jerzy Stuhr plays four roles in this odd drama about unusual relationships; Von Ryan's Express -
Frank Sinatra gets a last chance at playing an action hero soldier in this exciting & clever escapist war adventure. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
