This Week's Notable DVDs: Lars and the Real Girl, Juno, and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
This week has a good number of highly anticipated films making their way to DVD. Be sure to check out these new discs: Lars and the Real Girl [review]
- a bittersweet story of a troubled young man desperate to connect with life and a community that is committed to helping him; Juno [review] - a smart, funny, heartfelt gem of a film that is arty enough for those with a refined taste, but still has a crowd-pleasing sensibility that can endear it to a mass audience; and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead [review] - a vertiginous marvel that is told in a dizzying out-of-sequence style that matches the complexity of the drama. Veteran director Sidney Lumet proves he's still got a lot of kicks in him yet.; Other releases of note
include:
Aliens vs. Predator – Requiem [review],
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall [review],
and Blast of Silence - Criterion Collection [review].
