This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Sophia Loren Four Film Collection - Lionsgate takes a dip in a selection of vintage Sophia Loren pictures: Attila, Carosello Napoletano, Madame Sans-Gêne, and I Girasole. No top pictures, but a couple of surprises.; The Furies - Anthony Mann's earliest Western epic contains great performances by Barbara Stanwyck and Walter Huston, in a story that plays out like Greek drama crossed with Bonanza. Great dialogue, surprising violence, cruel turns of fate -- a real keeper; and Phase IV - Saul Bass goes Sci-Fi ethereal, with this ecological, apocalyptic tale of researchers battling a super-intelligent ant colony.
