This Week's Notable DVDs: Akira, Futurama, and The Universe
There's been a bit of a lull in high profile releases this week. (You know when we end up featuring Wonder Pets!: Join the Circus, there's not a lot to choose from.) Even so, there are some titles worth checking out such as: Akira (Blu-ray) [review] - a lush, if sometimes ultraviolent, trip through a humankind on the brink of enormous evolutionary change. The sterling visual and especially audio quality of this release, makes this an easy entry into the DVD Talk Collector Series pantheon; Futurama: Into The Wild Green Yonder [review]- this fourth direct-to-DVD film features a slew of terrific jokes, creative plots twists and colorful characters; and The Universe: Collector's Edition Megaset [DVD review]- an interesting, entertaining, and well produced look at our galaxy and the rest of the cosmos.
Other releases of note include: Painted Lady [review], Wonder Pets!: Join the Circus [review], and Chris & Don: A Love Story [review].
Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
