DVD Savant: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Glen and Randa, and Fargo
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly [Blu-ray] - The upgrade of Sergio Leone's most popular film looks fine in HD, and a new Christopher Frayling commentary is on board, but somebody tried a sneaky trick with one of the audio tracks; Glen and Randa - Jim McBride's hippie-vision of the end of civilization has made itself scarce for forty years; it turns out to be an uncompromising post-apocalyptic story with an original vision. With Steve Curry & Shelley Plimpton as clueless kids eating bugs; all awareness of human history is gone; and Fargo [Blu-ray] - The Coen's most celebrated picture makes the jump to HD, and is shaping up to be one of the top classics of the 1990s. Frances McDormand, William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi top a perfect cast in an absurd kidnapping caper gone pathetically, miserably sour. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
