DVD Savant: Doctor Strangelove, Fatal Attraction, and The Saragossa Manuscript
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Doctor Strangelove [Blu-ray] - HD gives Stanley Kubrick's influential black comedy its best presentation yet, with a (mostly) repeated selection of extras from the 2004 DVD special edition; Fatal Attraction [Blu-ray] - Adrian Lyne's very successful domestic thriller pits straying husband Michael Douglas against Glenn Close, the one-night stand who just keeps coming back, like The Terminator. Anne Archer completes the morally and emotionally complicated triangle of infidelity; and The Saragossa Manuscript - The mind-tripping, Jerry Garcia- recommended, Spanish language, Polish produced twisted tale of mysterious books, Moorish demon-maidens and labyrinthine plotting returns. A truly odd obscurity from the 1960s, and very funny too. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
