DVD Savant: The Fugitive Kind, Central Airport, and The Fox
The Fugitive Kind This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: The Fugitive Kind - Marlon Brando won his first million-dollar paycheck for this Tennessee Williams bayou boiler that can boast excellent performances from Anna Magnani and Joanne Woodward; Central Airport - William Wellman flies again, in this racy Pre-Code drama about a disgraced pilot's romance with a barnstorming parachutist. Surprisingly adult fare; and The Fox - One of the first efforts to test the freedoms of the 1968 ratings system is this adaptation of a D.H. Lawrence novella about a female couple whose farm is 'invaded' by a rogue male drifter. Wild symbols clash amid some great acting and direction. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
