DVD Savant: The Black Scorpion, The Palm Beach Story, and Pork Chop Hill
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: The Black Scorpion - Big bugs are bugging out all over, gobbling up cows and train passengers and tossing tanks and helicopters around like they were toy tanks and helicopters. Willis O'Brien's late career special effects are sensational, with fast-moving scorpion horrors skittering all over the landscape; The Palm Beach Story - Preston Sturges' wittiest comedy about romance between the ultra rich and those that wannabe is one inventive laugh after another with original characters in every scene; and Pork Chop Hill - Lewis Milestone's last war film is also Gregory Peck's effort to show that combat can be worse when politics require sacrifice without the possibility of victory.
Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
