This Week's Notable Releases: Dark Passage, The Naked Island, and Too Late for Tears
Some pretty cool discs have made their way to store shelves over this week. Check out these new titles:
Dark Passage [review] - this Humphry Bogart/Lauren Bacall feature is loaded with noir style and is ripe with tension and suspense; and The Naked Island: Criterion Collection [review] - Kaneto Shindo's film is equal parts beauty and despair, examining a small family unit toiling away in near isolation while the natural world spins without stopping for them; and Too Late for Tears [review] - Byron Haskin directs this 1949 film noir thriller, a strong film noir entry that stars the beautiful Lizabeth Scott as a consummate femme fatale... the direction is tight, the pacing is quick and the story is tense.
