Jean-Pierre Melville does French crime the American way, with Alain Delon, Gian-Maria
Volonté and Yves Montand ganging up to steal some jewels out from under the nose of
André Bourvil. It's stylized and ritualized and there's hardly a female in
sight, but crime fans love this stuff.
