An exceptionally good DVD elevates a good film noir to a top-level thriller. Richard Basehart gives
the LAPD a run for its money as a master thief and copkiller on the prowl. The star is John Alton's
sublime noir lighting, with an assist from the hardboiled direction by (so we're informed) an uncredited Anthony Mann.
