Sherman's March First Run Features scores a quasi-documentary coup with the release of this funny, absorbing show. A docu filmmaker's attempt to trace General Sherman's march through the south becomes an odyssey into the mystery of "southern womanhood," with the cinema verité filmmaker Ross McElwee in a fine romantic confusion.
