Ragtime Milos Forman brings E.L. Doctorow's epic novel to the screen with what they called 'mixed results' in 1981, but what's there is darn good and looks really impressive on widescreen DVD. Howard E. Rollins Jr. is way down on the cast list but still the star; he's supported by Mary Steenburgen, Elizabeth McGovern, Brad Dourif, Kenneth McMillan, Mary Steenburgen, James Olson and James Cagney, wooed out of retirement for one last show.
