The Americanization of Emily Paddy Chayefsky's terrific script is beautiful and a little lacking in logical consistency - yet the film is a winning classic. A 'controversial' movie with an unheard-of message for 1963: stop encouraging war by glorifying its heroes, fallen or survived. With James Garner, Julie Andrews, Melvyn Douglas and James Coburn.
