Band of Angels This overheated exercise in antebellum bad taste combines a realistic depiction of the slave trade with anachronistic attitudes from the 50s Civil Rights era when it was made. Clark Gable is the conscience stricken slave holder, who finds plenty of time to hold freshly de-emancipated Yvonne de Carlo. It isn't a question of PC or Not PC -- the trashy story finds every excuse to threaten de Carlo with legal rape by men who assure her that she's no different "from the slaves in the pens." Directed by Raoul Walsh. Warners.   01/30/07 Posted by DVD Savant at January 29, 2007 07:52 AM
